Frequently Asked Questions

What membership level is right for my family?

Our Family membership ($170) is perfect for families with children under 18, offering unlimited admission for two adults and children under 18. For extended families or those who frequently bring guests, our Family and Friends membership ($215) includes one additional guest pass per visit.

How many times do we need to visit for membership to pay for itself?

A Family membership pays for itself in just two visits. General admission for a family of four during peak season costs $114 per visit, so your membership saves money starting with your second trip.

If I purchase a general admission ticket, can I apply its value toward the cost of a Membership?

Yes! If you purchased general admission tickets, you may apply tickets toward a membership within 30 days of your visit. Please see a Visitor Services Representative or call 860-572-5339 for additional details.

Can we use our membership year-round?

Yes! The Museum is open year-round (hours vary seasonally). Each season offers unique experiences—from summer sailing to holiday celebrations at Lantern Light Village.

Is the Museum suitable for young children?

Absolutely! We offer age-appropriate activities across our campus, including a Children’s Museum (play for ages 0–7), Home Port (games and crafts for ages 8–12), interactive scavenger hunts, hands-on building activities, a ships playscape, and special events for children. Most families spend three to five hours exploring during a typical visit.

What admission benefits do Members receive?

Members receive free general admission. The number of admission tickets is determined by membership level.

Can I purchase a Membership as a gift?

Yes! You can purchase a Gift Membership online, in person at either entrance, or over the phone at 860-572-5339.

Can I upgrade my Membership level to a higher level?

Yes! If you would like to upgrade to enjoy more benefits, please contact the Membership Department at 860-572-5339.

I just joined or renewed my membership. When will my membership card arrive?

Digital card users will receive an email with instructions to install a digital membership card within 3 to 4 business days. If you already have your digital membership card installed at the time of renewal, it will automatically update within 3 to 4 business days. Until you receive your digital cards, please bring a form of ID to present at the admission desk.

Physical card users will receive cards by mail within 3 to 4 weeks. Please allow more time for international addresses. All benefits are accessible from the date of purchase. Until you receive your cards, whether new or replacement, please bring a form of ID to present at the admission desk.

Do I need my Membership card to access my benefits?

No. If you do not have your membership card, a photo ID will be requested by a Visitor Service Representative at the admission desk to receive your Member benefits.

I lost my physical membership card. Can I get a replacement?

Yes. To request a replacement for a lost membership card, please send your name and address to membership@mysticseaport.org, or call the Membership Department at 860-572-5339, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Please note, it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks for cards to arrive by mail.

When will my membership expire?

Memberships are valid for 12 months from the month of purchase. All benefits are accessible from the date of purchase. Expiration dates can be found on your membership card and on the Membership Overview page of the Mystic Seaport Museum website when you are logged in. For questions, please contact the Membership Department at membership@mysticseaport.org or 860-572-5339.

If I renew my Membership early, do I keep the time remaining on my current Membership?

Yes! Renewals may be processed at any point once your membership term has commenced. When you renew an active membership, it will be extended for one year from the current expiration date. The Membership Department does not retain credit card information. This information must be re-submitted with each renewal.

Are there discounts available through my Membership?

Yes! All levels of membership receive:

10% discount at the Mystic Seaport Museum Store, plus seasonal discounts during Member Double Discount Days.
10% discount at all Museum restaurants and cafes, plus seasonal discounts during Member Double Discount Days.
10-20% discount on classes, programs, and summer camps.
Discount tickets for Halloween and Lantern Light holiday programs.

Do Members receive guest passes, and if so, what can they be used for?

Select levels of membership receive guest passes. These passes may be used for general daily admission. Passes must be used before the expiration date marked. For more questions on guest passes, please email membership@mysticseaport.org or call 860-572-5339.

If a guest pass is not available, do guests of Members receive discounted general admission tickets?

Yes! Members enjoy $5 off general admission tickets for accompanied guests.

How can I reserve Member-priced event tickets online?

To reserve special exhibition and event tickets online, you must log in to the account associated with the membership and put the tickets into your cart. Once the items are in your cart, the Member price will be visible. If there is an issue, please contact the Membership Department at 860-572-5339 or membership@mysticseaport.org.

What is the Membership refund policy?

Membership contributions are not refundable or transferable.
